Tips and Advice
To reach and maintain optimum growth levels, deer need a diet that contains 16-to 17-percent protein 365 days a year. Even with some planting and supplemental feeding, protein "gaps" can occur at certain times of the year. Protein gaps most often occur from January through May, but can also occur in late summer. In order to have a successful deer management program, all gaps must be filled!
Protein gaps can be filled whenever they occur through the right combination of planting, supplemental feeding, putting out minerals and making sure that natural foods in the woods are not over-browsed.
